Last minute addition to the line-up at the Way Out Club tonight: Subsurface opening for The Bureau, 10:30pm. Short notice, but if you're free, we'd love to see you. And prove to you we're actually working on material. Seriously, we are. Also, this is our second live gig in 2004, breaking our one-gig-a-year-for-the-last-three-years streak.

CHINA WHITE SERPENTINE was released on DVD this week; if you're curious in hearing what the next Subsurface CD will be like, you should pick this up; we're all over it. Unreleased Fleshmerchant and Burning Truck material as well. And the DVD has an isolated score track, which is very cool.

Thanks to KWUR, DJ Lily, DJ St. Mariet, DJ Kill9, Trotski's Block, Stromkern, and the staff at the Gargoyle. Special thanks to everyone that came out this past weekend; Rachel and I appreciate the show of support, despite the tragic circumstances.

Jeff Carline, the creative force behind Visions of Passion and Torture, passed away on Friday, a few hours before we went on stage. He was an inspiration to me musically; his band was around when I decided to start Subsurface, the Locuna label, the whole thing. Having his band around gave me a reason to stay in St. Louis. Rest in Peace, Jeff.

Here's the lineup for the Feb 20 show @ The Gargoyle:

Stromkern | Subsurface | Trotski's Block

Stromkern's first gig in St. Louis. Lots of new Subsurface material. Trotski's Block's first live gig. Plenty of reasons for you to show up. Did I mention it's on a Friday night? Or that it's an all ages show and it's only five bucks? See you there. Brought to you by the benevolent staff @ KWUR.

Locuna gave up 12 tracks for Sub Rosa's CHINA WHITE SERPENTINE including two new Subsurface tracks from their forthcoming CD entitled GET_DOWN MAKE_FUCK. Also featured are previously unreleased Fleshmerchant tracks and five (count 'em!) Burning Truck tracks. It'll all be available soon, I promise. In the meantime, look for CHINA WHITE SERPENTINE on DVD in Spring 2004.

Word on the street is Subsurface is opening for Stromkern in February. Nothing official yet; just something I heard.

Sorry, some of the links here aren't lit up yet. That'll change soon. Still tweaking the new design.

Rachel and I are performing this weekend as part of the annual Armageddon Ball, which takes place this Saturday @ Berzerker Studios, 3033 Locust, St. Louis. It's a mini-set; 4 songs, but it should be fun. All new material. Also, the annual A-Ball is always a blast. And there's liquor. You don't have anything going on this weekend, so just go.

You have to RSVP @ the site below to get tickets (sign the guest log). Also there's a link to Berzerker if you need directions.

Fleshmerchant's first live show ever will happen Saturday, June 8 at Berzerker Studios, 3033 Locust, St. Louis. Fleshmerchant's appearance is in conjunction with Berzerker's "The Pit and the Pendulum" art show, featuring exhibits by local artists, mostly focusing on a torture theme. Admission is $10, FMerch is on @ 10pm.

If you're anywhere near STL, you shouldn't miss this; I have a few surprises lined up (as if knowing there's a full Fleshmerchant set isn't enough of a surprise).
